Comparison of both projectors: Sony VPL-DW240 vs Sony VPL-EX455The Sony VPL-DW240 was released in September 2016; the Sony VPL-EX455 arrived in the market in April 2017.
Concerning the projection system specifications, the Sony VPL-DW240 has a low brightness (3,000 ANSI) compared to the brightness of the Sony VPL-EX455: 3,600 ANSI whereas the Sony VPL-DW240 has a higher contrast of 3,000:1, the Sony VPL-EX455 having only 20,000:1. The Sony VPL-DW240 has a lower resolution of 1280x800 than the Sony VPL-EX455 having 1024x768.
As for the image system, both projectors don't have the vertical lens shift nor the horizontal shift, and both projectors have the vertical keystone, but none has the an horizontal keystone correction, which means that you have to put the projector in front of the screen, but it can be fixed on the ceiling or placed on a table, lower than the screen. None of the projectors have the 3d mode.
